North Sligo Athletes Run Well In Dublin Marathon

There were some fine performances and PBs from North Sligo athletes in the Dublin City Marathon on Sunday last. Donal Egan led the North Sligo contingent home with a good time of 2 hrs 40 mins a one-and-a-half minute PB. Craig Brennan took almost 3 mins off his previous personal best to record a new PB of 2 hours 49 mins 44 secs. Alan Wallace battled hard and was only two minutes outside his best despite being on antibiotics for an ear infection he finished in 3 hrs 4 min 20 sec. Fergal McGrath had a great marathon journey chopping almost eight minutes from his previous best to record a new PB of 3 hrs 15 min 41 sec. Alan Travers ran into calf cramp problems just after halfway and had to stop several times on the journey but he battled on and overcame his challenges to finish in 3 hrs 22 mins. Catherine Lipsett dipped under her PB by 30 secs to set a new one of 3 hrs 24 mins 58 secs. Jason Duffy running his first marathon had a fine run to finish in 3 hrs 53 min 21 sec.
