The 3rd and final leg of the Connacht senior cross country league took place in Ballymote on Sunday last. The local Corran AC club did a great job in organizing a well-run event in which over 600 hundred athletes from U11 to senior took part. The North Sligo men's team came into this final leg in 2nd position but great performance from the team who fought for every position to put them into first. Aidan McMoreland as in the two previous two legs led the team home with another fine run to finish 5th he was followed home in 7th position by the teak tough Eamon McAndrew with a very gutsy run and showed the fighting spirit of this team, next came Eamon Murphy in 9th with another top notch performance, Niall Canning the 4th scorer epitomized the battling qualities of this team as he dug deep and quarried out a great performance to finish 18th to secure the gold medals for his team. Leo Donlon once again as in Westport for the previous leg showed his battling qualities and came away with a very satisfying performance to cross the finish line in 27th place, Jimmy Currid got great encouragement from his legions of fans as he became the 6th member of the victories team to finish.

Valeria Petrova had one of her best cross country runs to date as she led her team home in 9th position and also won the women's senior title in the league, the club was delighted to see Sarah Healy back in action and she made a very valuable contribution with a fine effort to finish 12th to be the 2nd finisher on the team, Aisling VanRensburg never one to shrink away from hard work or a big effort put these qualities to great use as she became the clubs 3rd finisher in 14th place and Trish Lee was the 4th scorer with another good effort in 18th position to help her team into 2nd position and the silver medals, Linda Lally in 20th completed the team with a fine run to become the 5th club member to finish
