Following refreshments the Navy Band will strike up some céilí music and céilí master Joe Mc Gorrin will call the sets. Elaine Canning:
Elaine is a renowned soprano who studied under the guidance of Dr Veronica Dunne in Dublin. The acclaimed singer graduated with a BMus (Hons) Degree and Postgraduate Diploma in performance at the Royal College of Music, London.
Throughout her career Elaine has received numerous awards, most notably the Fitzwilton Trust Award for Exceptional talent, The Chilver Prize & Bolder Prize from the Royal College of Music, London.
Elaine is an accomplished performer and can adapt to various vocal styles ranging from classical to contemporary. She has travelled the globe as lead singer in Micheal Flatley’s “Lord of the Dance”, and with other groups and artists such as Ragus, Tommy Fleming, and The Drawing Room Opera Company.
She has had solo performances at The Purcell Room in London, The Royal Albert Hall London, Croke Park for All-Ireland (singing national anthem), The Ray D’Arcy Show to name but a few.
Joe McGorrin:
Joe McGorrin has been steeped in Irish music and dancing from an early age. He began teaching set dancing in the late ‘80s, and has continued with classes and workshops on and off, both at home and abroad, over the past 35 years.
Joe’s love of music and dance is very evident, and when teaching, his main aim is to ensure that everyone learns as much as they want to learn, no matter what level they are at, having as much fun as possible along the way!
All proceeds from this concert will go towards the completion of the North Sligo Athletic Club (NSAC) all weather running track beside North Sligo Complex in Grange. NSAC has a proud and on going association with our 2 local Olympians Mona McSharry and Christopher O’Donnell.
A night not to be missed!!!
