Cross Country Senior League 1

Two North Sligo AC teams travelled to Moyne in Co Longford for the first leg of Connacht cross country league, both teams were missing key members due to marathon and ironman commitments and some injuries. There were very good efforts from Aiden McMoreland who ran his first cross-country race in several years showed no signs of rust and finished a fine 4th in a good quality field. Eamon Murphy showed no sign of fatigue when finishing 6th, his big effort the previous week to earn his place on the Irish masters cross country team does not seem to have deleted his energy levels. Peter Gallagher running his first cross country race in the club colors put in a very promising performance to finish 17th, and Leo Donlon put in a very solid effort to finish 23rd to put his team in 2nd position behind a very strong Sligo AC outfit.

The women's team was led home by Valeria Petrova one of the club's newest members, this enthusiastic young Ukraine girl ran a fine race to finish 14th and relished the tough and testing challenge, Trish Lee ran her best race in many years and her tenacity and drive saw her finish 17th, Marita McMorrow finished very strongly in 18th position and flew passed several runners in the last 200m which shows there is a lot more in the tank. Alison O Sullivan ran a fine strong race showing great grit to finish 24th to put her team in 2nd position. Pamela Hunter stuck firmly to her task to finish 33rd on this testing challenge.
