Murphy Wins International Vest


Eamon Murphy put in a great performance at the Autumn International Crosscountry Trials in Abbotstown on Sunday last. Murphy running in the masters mens 7 .5k event was vying for a place on the Irish mens 0ver 55 team for the forthcoming crosscountry international. The North Sligo runner ran and won this event last year to earn his first master's international vest, last years event was hastily arranged because of covid and just included Ireland and Northern Ireland in the international contest . This year a top-quality field contested for the four places available on the Irish squad, Pauric McKinney Innishowen took the first spot in 26 mins 26 secs, Francis Marsh North Down 2nd in 26 min 59 secs, Eamon Murphy 3rd in 27mins 00 sec and Paul Cowhie Crusaders 4th in 27 min 40 sec, Murphy ran 57 secs faster this year on exactly the same course as last year to earn his 2nd international masters vest. The full home countries international will be contested by England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland in Santry demesne on Saturday 12th November.
